Whether you’re heading to Loudon for the first time or you’re a regular, a little preparation goes a long way. Here are some practical suggestions to make your NASCAR weekend smooth and enjoyable:
Plan ahead and arrive early
Traffic builds quickly around the Speedway, particularly on race day, Sunday. Aim to reach the gates by late morning so you can enjoy the fan zones and pre-race buzz instead of waiting in long lines.
Tickets at the ready
All admission is digital now, so be sure your mobile tickets are downloaded to your phone before leaving home. Without them, you won’t make it past the entry gates.
Food, drinks, and coolers
You’re welcome to bring your own snacks, water, and even alcohol, provided everything is in cans or plastic (glass is not permitted). A soft-sided cooler no larger than 14" is allowed in the grandstands, and clear bags make security checks faster. Of course, a wide selection of concessions is also available throughout the venue.
Dress smart for the weather.
Late September in New England can be unpredictable. Bring layers so you can adjust as the day shifts, and don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a cap for sunny stretches. A light jacket or poncho will keep you comfortable if clouds roll in.
Protect your ears
Stock car racing is seriously loud. Pack earplugs or over-the-ear protection, especially for children.
Stay comfortable all day.
With 1,200 acres of property and plenty to explore, you’ll want good walking shoes. A simple seat cushion can also make the grandstand benches much more comfortable during a long afternoon..
Parking made simple
Book your parking space ahead of time if you can, and allow extra travel time–roads can back up hours before the green flag. To save yourself a headache later, snap a photo of the nearest parking lot sign so you can easily find your car after the race.
Stay connected
Mobile networks often get overloaded with tens of thousands of fans onsite. Arrange a meeting point with your group in advance in case your calls or texts don’t go through.
Show your colours
Many fans love to wear their driver’s gear. If you need a t-shirt, cap, or flag, visit Souvenir Hauler Row behind the Main Grandstand during NASCAR Cup weekends.
Tailgating tradition
Plenty of fans make a full day of it by tailgating before and after the race. Bring your own setup and enjoy the atmosphere – just be sure to follow Speedway guidelines for grills, coolers, and clean-up.
